It is–multiple studies (Wagner, Horn, & Maercker, 2014; Andrews, Basu, Cuijpers, Craske, McEvoy, English & Newby, 2018; Nordgren, Hedman, Etienne, Bodion, Kadowaki, Eriksson, Lindkvsit, Andersson, & Carlbring, 2014) have found that virtual therapy is just as effective as in person therapy. I personally love the ability to work with folks from all over Texas, without any of the added traffic!
Not exactly! I can see you for individual therapy only if I am also seeing your significant other for individual therapy, with couples therapy sessions. Because of the nature of individual and couples work, it would not be recommended for your couples’ therapist to also be your individual therapist, unless that person were also seeing both of you for individual therapy.
Sessions are approximately 50 minutes long, and it is strongly recommended to begin sessions weekly, then transition to bi-weekly, tri-weekly, and monthly as progress is made.
For multiple reasons, insurance can be very limiting in the work I do with my clients. While I can easily provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, I am not in-network with any insurance companies at this time.
I have a limited number of clients I accept on a sliding scale, based off of financial need. If there is availability, simply ask for the financial needs application, complete, and return!
My first formal session with a client is typically gathering family background and information. This takes roughly anywhere between half to the full first session. Initial goals are also discussed in the first session, so we can track and monitor progress.
Simply let me know at least 24 hours in advance (text, email, call–all HIPAA compliant platforms). Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours notice, and not rescheduled for within 3 days of the missed session will be charged full session rates.
